So Totally Unnecessary

by Krista

Totally_unnecessaryAs a blogger, I’m bad at spell-check. I’m probably bad at punctuation more than occasionally too. But despite being one of the rare few who knows how to actually wield a semicolon–Lucas and Tyler(s), you’re acknowledged–I never claimed to be a professional. This photo, taken at Denver’s airport on Sunday morning, is totally unforgivable.

There’s no need for dramatic pause.

No need at all.

And personally, if you really need a dramatic pause, I’d suggest an ellipses ellipsis. (Sorry, I’ve never been good at those sorts of plurals. Thanks Ben.)

All that being said, I’ve had a little pause as of late (very undramatically). And I have a lot to tell you.

Firstly, I still have to tell you about Wahaca.

Then, there’s Avec (lovely) and Blackbird (eh) in Chicago with Christina and Kent.

And then there’s The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado with K&A, where I seriously had one of the best turkey sandwiches in my entire life. I’m still trying to block out the mold on the shower curtain in my hotel room though.

Oh yes, and earlier this evening, I discovered how much I hate grouse at St. John Bread & Wine with Feathers, Matt, and Feathers’ Brother.

Thank you, for reading my blog. Really. Thank you. (Comma.)

Ellipsis, shurely? Can you tell I’m completely with you on the pedantry. Not so the grouse, though…

Bad punctuation is just so irritating isn’t it?

Very funny – have you read Eats, Shoots & Leaves?

Well at least we now know why it’s called ‘St John Bread & Wine’. Those were the two best things about the place.

I was saying in the cab on the way home that I don’t think the place is as good as they think it is, and as I mentioned this evening at Anna and Stephen’s, it’s old style food at future prices 😉

As for the punctuation, it looks more to me like they forgot a full stop (period for you Americans) after the ‘Welcome’ rather than it being a dramatic pause. I’m actually more bothered by the comma after the ‘Thank You’. Is that correct?

I’ve often seen potato’s instead of potatoes. That gets my goat!

Krista, if you were on a flight to Denver that I was working ( or could have worked) and I did not know it, I am going to be sick. I see my employers punctuation is as poor as their pay!
