Happy 9th Anniversary to Me

Posted by Krista on June 24, 2013

June 26, 2004. My first blog post, The Providores in London.

I’m less gushy, less wordy, less concerned about a lot of things, I’ve moved continents, and I’ve switched to WordPress. (A mistake, in hindsight. You would think that me, with years of experience in software product management, would have factored in switching costs when making the switch. Bye bye, SEO. And still so grrrr that the woman who made the switch refused to update my Urbanspoon links because “it wasn’t in the spec” so now they all refer to Arbutus in London.)

It’s been a nice ride. Thanks for sticking with me all of this time. xxoo

P.S. Normally, I am very good with math. I don’t know what I was smoking. But this is my 9th anniversary, not my 10th! Title updated.

You’ve entered your 10th year. That should make it work both ways…

What’s up with the SEO? I’ve not had much problems with wordpress and SEO on my blog. Just a botched migration (which it sounds like it from the Urbanspoon issue…)

Re: Urbanspoon… it looks like the links are fine, but not the images. I can easily see (a) taking the backup from your pre-migration site and extracting the correct image links from it (email it to me and I’d be happy to generate the list for you) then it’s just a matter of re-populating them, or (b) getting correct links from Urbanspoon’s support team. Shouldn’t be *that* hard to fix it with a custom script. Once I get past my current hectic period at work, I may be able to whip up something for you (for free, I don’t mind helping other bloggers).

WOW. That would be awesome. You’re awesome. All that and I still owe you a tour!! If you are ever in Chicago, let me know!! The unfortunate bad news about the migration is that my Typepad site no longer exists…at least, I don’t think it exists. I may have downloaded a backup before the migration but I will have to click around for that.

See if you can find a backup.

If you are comfortable with it, send me a backup of your current WordPress site as well. I can probably see if I can make a temp plugin or a script that can fix things.

Awesome Krista! That’s like 90 years in blog time….not that I’m trying to you by insinuating your age and such…. ;o)

  4. 9 years – wow Krista. A massive achievement. Even thought we are on different sides of the world now I still love to read about your food and travel adventures.
