Most of the time, I think the Fat Delicatessan is just a deli. I went on a special night that was a paella class. So check in advance.

For a great restaurant down in that area, I really liked 409 by Clapham North tube… http://www.wix.com/fouronine/four-o-nine/. Entrance is tricky though to read up on it before you go!

There’s an excellent dicussion of this by Geoffrey Steingarten in ‘The Man who ate everything’. The snails feed on wild herbs and thus season and flavour dish.

If no snails are available you must add rosemary – but never rosemary and snails together!
