My excitement waned pretty quickly after a visit though – the menu’s changed recently as well, they started off on a (slightly) more authentic rather than tex-mex slant, but neither for me have been that enjoyable. The recent mole sauce debacle (like no other mole I’ve encountered – and not in a good way) means that I probably won’t return unless it’s just for drinks and a bowl of guacamole (yum, I thought, although guacamole’s a very personal thing – chunky/not chunky, with some tomatoes, etc.). I’m hopefully trying Wahaca tomorrow, but in the meantime, I’d recommend Mestizo (near Euston) – have had two enjoyable meals there, although that might have had something to do with the extremely strong margaritas….
