One other thought about traffic stats…I used to use Sitemeter, Statcounter, Google Analytics and Wordpress’ own stats. I’ve since dropped Sitemeter because of some spam issues. But in general, all three platforms gave me very different data on my traffic. There would need to be some agreed-upon standard for reporting traffic stats. For example, if I were a PR, maybe I would specifically ask for GA stats and only GA stats in order to maintain consistency in methodology between sites.

Yes, I totally agree that traffic is important. The challenge there is that traffic stats aren’t public and you would just have to rely on people being honest. I could look at Alexa rankings, but I’ve always found them unreliable, personally.
