For amazing sushi grade fish, plus all things Japanese, head to Atari-Ya right beside West Acton tube station - it's worth the trip! They supply Nobu, amongst others, and the range and quality is superb. They also sell various marinated fish for cooking, such as cod in miso, and some amazing seaweed salads. Loads of gyoza in the freezer for when you're feeling lazy, and all the usual noodles, sauces, snacks etc. Most customers are from the large Japanese community in that area, so it must be good! (No connection, just a happy customer!)

Steve Hatt is great, but if you have a desk job, it's hard to get there when they're open. Saturday is the only option, really.

I also like both the meat for sale (and the banter for free) at E. Wood butcher, at the corner of Liverpool Road and Barnsbury Street in Islington. The guys there are particularly obliging if you're looking for a quality turkey, say, for Thanksgiving.
