Stonch, you lead a very exciting life. Firstly, I am impressed with your dating prowess. Secondly, I like a man who heads out to a French restaurant for lunch for one. Thirdly, I never see any celebrities…and I certainly never have lunch serendipitously with any of them. You are a rock star.

I used to use this place constantly around 2002-2004. Then I stopped hanging around Covent Garden quite as much. I must have taken five or six dates/girlfriends here and a few groups of mates. I was first introduced to it by this young lady. The last time I visited was after an (ultimately successful) job interview. I pitched up mid afternoon intending to eat alone, but ended up sharing a table with actor Bernard Hill. I had a chat with him about Lord of the Rings, which sounded like very good fun. Perhaps I should have auditioned.

A friend introduced me to Le Garrick a while back and I think you probably went for some of the more adventurous things on the menu.

I almost always have the entrecôte steak, which is probably one of the best I’ve had in London.

For dessert, try the chocolate mousse, it’s something else… but it also seems to suggest that there are hidden calories as you mention in your review 😉
