Thanks so much for posting about Damascus – I’m planning a trip for next year, seeking out my Syrian roots (grandma’s from Aleppo!) so I’m furiously trawling the interwebs for tips. Any hotel, travel, etc tips – please share!

I cannot *believe* you traveled with companions who don’t like hummous (and with you on wondering how they planned to survive there without liking hummous). In any case, that’s LOL funny.

Did you see the article in this week’s NYT about how hummous is so inoffensive and easy-to-love that it’s making big inroads in even the midwest? : )
