I must comment. Let the internet know that I have never in my life sent a bottle of wine back, and I was hesitant to do so here, but when the cork broke off in the bottle and the waiter slyly slipped it in his pocket after a good sniff, I couldn't help but think that the little extra tang was a bit of vino-gary specialness. As it turns out, this is characteristic of nebbiolos and I am forever shamed. Props to the owner, though -- the man kicked my legs out from under me and then graciously offered a helping hand back up.
