July Blog Round-Up

by Krista

July_stats_270July rocked. The best month ever. For a couple of reasons. Firstly, there was the little profile of me on the Delicious Web site. Then there was the spread in The Observer. And my trip to BlogHer. And Tokyo! And then I fixed a bit of a technical issue with my site and WHOOSH. Traffic.

Oh yes, and my London Restaurant Blog Search Widget went live! Now you can search across multiple London restaurant blogs for local reviews.

So here were the top referring sites in July, not including search engines.
An American in London
Stonch’s Beer Blog
Food & Drink in London
Delicious Magazine
Cheese & Biscuits

And then here were the top five sources of NEW traffic…that is, people who have never visited my site before.
Stonch’s Beer Blog
Delicious Magazine
Mmm Yoso
The Guardian Word of Mouth Blog
Chowhound

I have one more Tokyo post to get through. Plus a write-up of No. 1 City Road. And The Bleeding Heart. And Little Bay in Farringdon. I generally write these things up on weekends, but I was sucked into a real-ale vortex this weekend by a certain beer blogger so I have a lot to catch up on.

And what else can I tell you? I’ve got some trips planned this month. Istanbul. Madrid. And I have this crazy idea about learning to cook in September through bloggers who cook. And writing about it. So if you’re a blogger who can cook and would be interested in showing me the ropes, drop me a note with your URL. Think simple, straightforward, fast recipes. Easy-to-find ingredients. (Think me, getting home from work around 8 p.m., exhausted.) Or maybe some one-pot recipes that I can make on a Sunday and eat all week. No pasta. It’s a good idea, right?

One last sad bit of news…Bacchus in Hoxton is closing its doors this week. Follow that link to get the skinny on Silverbrow’s site. Read the comments for details on the get-together on Wednesday.

I tend to blog about our life in London & travels … as well as posting my photos … but my other hobby is messing around in the kitchen and concocting fabulous food.

And I so know where you’re coming from about the late evening after work malaise! Last night was a sirloin steak cut into bite-size strips, cooked with garlic, ginger, black pepper, light soy sauce, mirin and toasted sesame oil, then tossed through a non-leafy salad of veges to hand, with the cooking juices from the steak as the salad dressing. Took about 10mins start-to-finish and fiancee didn’t leave anything for 2nds.

Tonight we’ve a friend coming for dinner and I’m thinking of doing my chicken & chorizo hot-pot thing …

So if you want to chat about cooking and flavours, feel free to drop me a line :o)
