May Blog Round-Up

by Krista

May08_2Let’s put it bluntly. May sucked. The two bank holidays really ate into traffic to my London restaurant blog. I’m going to see if I can’t try to recover some of that traffic in June–and then some. Watch out!

So here are my top five sources of referring traffic in May…
An American in London
Stonch’s Beer Blog
(Thanks Stonch for the shout out!)
Ripe London (Still accepting applications on my behalf)
Mmm-Yoso (Love these guys!)
Chowhound (Mainly from various board posts)

Then, there are the top five sources of traffic that’s new to me…
Stonch’s Beer Blog
Mmm-Yoso
Chowhound
London Review of Breakfasts
An American in London

At the end of May, Sarah and I hung out with some bloggers over at Bloggers’ Delight. I met some interesting souls. Firstly, there was Zoe from Shaman UK. A shaman who blogs! I love it. Then, there was Lisa from u-handbag. Lisa has my dream job! But I can’t sew, so it’s a pretty big dream. I love the work of Peter from My London Diary and although I can’t say the same of the Naked Chicks on Post It Notes guy (Sorry! Your name escapes me!), you gotta admire his single-mindedness.

There was also Tom Phillips from Flashboy who also writes for The Metro, and lastly but not leastly, there was my fellow countryman, Marshall from On Tap Blog. I need to get to more of these Blogger type things. I’m going to BlogHer ’08 in San Francisco next month, which I’m excited about. It’s hard to tell who the food/drink/travel bloggers are among the BlogHer 2008 attendee list, so if you know of any going, please let me know.

Update: I’ve borrowed this BlogHer 2008 foodie attendee list from Kaylyn at Kaylyn’s Kitchen…

Who’s Going to BlogHer 2008 in San Francisco…
Kalyn from Kalyn’s Kitchen
Sean from Hedonia
Lydia from The Perfect Pantry
Amy from Cooking with Amy
Elise from Simply Recipes
Anne Marie from This Momma Cooks
Jen from Life Begins at 30
Susan from Food Blogga
Shuna from Eggbeater
Genie from The Inadvertent Gardener
Sara from Ms. Adventures in Italy
Anna from Cookie Madness
Andrea from Andrea’s Recipes

Stefania from City Mama
Steph from A Year of Crockpotting
Biggie from Lunch in a Box
Kathy from Panini Happy
Jess from Chirky (and a mysterious food blog, yet to be named)
Claire from Cookthink
Kat from Kungfoodie

Anyhow…no big plans for June. It’s just a simple goal: Beat April.

Hi there, I just stumbled across your blog – I like it alot! I am pretty new to this myself so maybe you could give me a boost by mentioning my blog (if you like it that is)?

Thanks and good luck with your June traffic!

Andy

I know that Lydia from The Perfect Pantry, Sara from Ms. Adventures in Italy, Anna from Cookie Madness, and Amy from Cooking with Amy are also coming to Blogher. Last year I’d guess there were about 50 food bloggers there, so I’m sure there are a lot more.

Be sure to come to the “Birds of a Feather” session the first day so you can meet other people right away.

Hi Krista, thanks for your message after last weeks Bloggers Meetup in Waterloo. It was great to meet you and I’m really enjoying your FOOD site; it’s wonderful, I shall certainly recommend it to all my foodie friends!
See you next meeting and thanks for the teccie tips. Google Analytics works like a dream!

It’s not you – just the seasonal fluctuation in blog readership. My figures virtually mirror yours and they are back up again in the first week of June.

Looking forward to meeting you at BlogHer!
